Max's of Manila

If you live or work in town, it's pretty hard to find authentic Filipino cuisine. Sure, there's probably a Golden Coin or a Jollibee nearby, but that's Filipino fast food. If you want to try Filipino homestyle cooking, check out Max's of Manila. Buddy really enjoys Filipino food so on this outing, he did all the ordering and Bumper just ate what was served.  :)

Boneless Bangus
Deep fried fresh water milkfish that has been pre-marinated in a slightly salty, peppery and sour mixture.

Crispy Pata
Grade A pork leg that is fried up so it's crispy and "fork-tender".

Pinakbet
The Filipino staple dish of fresh ampalaya, okra, sitaw, eggplant, squash and kangkong with pork and shrimp sauteed in a special blend of bagoong alamang

Halo Halo
A popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk
to which various fruits and sweet beans are added and then  topped with ice cream

So Gong Dong

If you are looking for some Korean comfort food you might want to give this place a try. So Gong Dong is known for their Soon Du Bu (spicy tofu soup). They have special meal combos which pair up their soup with your usual Korean dishes. In our opinion, for the amount of food you get, the prices are pretty reasonable.

Andy's Kahuku Shrimp

One would expect that Andy's Kahuku Shrimp would be located in Kahuku, but it's not.  It can be found on Rycroft Street, just off of Keeaumoku. Andy's Kahuku Shrimp originally started off as a shrimp truck, but fortunately for us townies we can now enjoy their plate lunches without driving out into the country.  :)
